ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Three paintings stolen from Roanoke College have been returned anonymously.

College spokeswoman Teresa Gereaux says the portraits of President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr. and Adolf Hitler weren't damaged. But two frames were marred and the glass on one was scratched.

The paintings were reported missing April 9. They were part of a series called "The Movers and the Shakers" by the late George Solonevich.

Gereaux says someone left the paintings in the driveway behind President Michael Maxey's house. Maxey's wife, Teri, and a housekeeper found the paintings Tuesday morning.

The college's public safety department is investigating the thefts.
