VERONA, Va. (AP) — A 56-year-old mechanic has been charged in the shootings of two people at a scenic overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

Augusta County Sheriff Randy Fisher's office says Ralph Leon Jackson has been charged with attempted capital murder, attempted murder and two counts of using or displaying a firearm in a felony.

A General District Court judge on Thursday appointed the local public defender's office to represent Jackson and ordered him held without bond.

Police arrested Jackson at his home Wednesday. Fisher says officers recovered a shotgun they believe was used in Monday evening's shootings of 27-year-old Timothy Davis and 18-year-old Christina Floyd. Both victims were wounded.
