DARE COUNTY, NC-Nine people were rescued from a charter boat that hit the Bonner Bridge Monday morning.

The 58-foot Sandra D, which had left Pirate's Cove Marina, reported the boat was taking on water around 5:45 a.m., Petty Officer Joseph Haskell told WVEC.com.

As  a 47' Coast Guard vessel headed to the scene, another charter boat was able to tow it away from the south span on the west side.

The Coast Guard evacuated the nine people from the Sandra D and got them to shore. Three of them reported injuries like bumps, bruises and cuts, Petty Officer Haskell noted.

Initial reports indicate there is no structural damage to the bridge and the incident was reported to the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation.

According to the Pirate's Cove Website, the Sandra D. usually leaves the marina at 5;15 a.m. and returns around 4:30 p.m.
