CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — A Charlottesville man will spend nine-and-a-half years in a federal prison for hiring a man to kill his wife.
U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy says Patrick Scott Shemorry's actions were "meticulous and chilling."
The 28-year-old Shemorry had pleaded guilty in September to a federal murder for hire charge. He was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Heaphy says Shemorry gave a man identified only as "Witness One" $1,200 in travel to New Orleans and kill his wife. She had moved there after the couple separated earlier this year.
