CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) — The last of four Virginia teenagers convicted of attacking former NFL player Ed Beard has been ordered to complete a youthful offender program.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/ZixPbx ) that 17-year-old James Richardson-Jackson was sentenced Friday in Chesapeake. Officials say the Department of Corrections' youthful offender program includes counseling and job training and usually takes four years to complete.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Joseph Morgan and 18-year-old Jalen Riddick previously received similar sentences. Seventeen-year-old Essence L-Minggio was sentenced to four years in prison.

The 71-year-old Beard suffered a concussion, a black eye and bruises in the October 2011 assault, which prosecutors said happened during a gang initiation. He said outside the courtroom he was satisfied with the sentences.

Beard was a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers from 1965 to 1972.
