MAGNA, Utah (AP) — A worker at a Utah copper mining company site near Magna is suffering burns after a steam explosion.

Unified Fire Authority spokesman Ben Sharer said a work crew from Kennecott was trying to remove the lid on a water container Monday and the man was using a grinder to remove a bolt.

The grinder heated up the liquid and the container exploded.

The man had first- and second-degree burns on his upper body and was taken by ambulance to the University of Utah Burn Center.
