NORFOLK -- A 65-year-old man died of smoke inhalation when fire swept through his home early Monday.
Brenda Reiver says the home on Harrell Avenue belonged to her uncle, Vincent Jordan.
Investigators say the man was still in bed when they arrived around 5:00 a.m.
"At least he died peacefully and was not all burned up or in agony," she said.
The firefighters had the fire under control by 5:45 a.m.
There was heavy smoke on the second floor where the rescue team found the man.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
