Guns rights activist charged again after leaving Norfolk city hall
05:53 PM EDT on Wednesday, October 8, 2008
NORFOLK (AP) -- Hours after guns rights activists addressed the Norfolk City Council and demanded that police leave them alone for legally carrying a gun openly, one of them was charged again for displaying a weapon in a public place.
The city paid Danladi Moore $10,000 in July to avoid litigation after he was stopped by police for suspected weapons charges. After leaving city hall Tuesday night, he was charged again with trespassing.
The 24-year-old Hampton resident said police asked him to leave Waterside because he was openly carrying a gun and that he refused because the law allows him to do so.
Norfolk police spokesman Chris Amos confirmed that a summons was issued but declined further comment.
