1/2 UPDATE: Police Thursday said a fourth person was wounded in the shooting.
The preliminary investigation has determined that the victims and suspect(s) were at a party in the 400 Blk. Berkley Ave. Extended. An argument began and ended in gunfire.
The suspect(s) remain unknown at this time but investigators are pursuing leads.

1/1 UPDATE: The victims have been identifed as 22-year-old Marcus Deering, who lived on Halifax Street in Norfolk and 32-year-old Melvin Alston, who lived on Hoover Ave. in Chesapeake.

No arrests have been made.

NORFOLK - Norfolk police are investigating a triple shooting that left two people dead and sent one person to the hospital.  

Officers were called to Berkley Ave. Ext. and Rockingham St. just after 3 a.m. where they found two people who'd been shot. They were pronounced dead at the scene.  

The third victim, a woman, was taken to the hospital and should recover, said Norfolk Police Department spokesman Officer Chris Amos.

One bystander tells WVEC. com that there was a New Year's Eve party going on but police have not said if there is any connection between the party and the shootings.

The victim's names have not been released.

No motive or suspect information is available.
