NORFOLK -- Norfolk Police say a man tried to abduct two girls early Tuesday.

43-year-old Tommy Basnight allegedly approached a girl at a bus stop in the 3100 block of Kimball Terrace shortly after he exposed himself to a woman sitting in her car, police said.  That woman was Michelle Frazier's 20-year-old daughter.

""The guy approached her and asked her for a cigarette. She said she didn't smoke. He asked her to roll down her window and she refused, so he flashed her and ran to the bus stop which was 50 yards away and started harassing little kids," she stated.

He grabbed the girl's arm, but she was able to break free and run home, said spokeswoman Karen Parker-Chesson.

Basnight then approached a second girl and tried to grab her clothing, police said.  The girl was able to run home and tell a parent, who called 911.

Basnight is in jail on no bond on charges of indecent exposure and two counts of attempted abduction.

None of the victims suffered physical injury, police said.
