NEWPORT NEWS -- It was another cold day for heating repairmen.  Crews for Art Newsome in Newport News have been working long hours to keep up.

“Getting some people’s heat back on can be life saving.  If they don’t have two systems or some kind of backup or whatever it is really important,” said owner Grant Owens.

Heat pumps have auxiliary backups that kick on when the temperatures drop to extremes.

“Some systems just couldn’t keep up because it was so cold.  We design to 15 to 20 degrees around here so if it gets five or six or eight or down to nine degrees, that’s below design temperature so systems won’t keep up,” concluded Owens.
