Hampton High School teacher charged with assault

HAMPTON -- A Hampton High School teacher has been charged for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 17-year-old female student.

Hampton Police charged 40-year-old San Antonio Crosby with simple assault Monday.

The student told police that Crosby had inappropriate contact with her while she was at school on Jan. 9.

Police say they notified school administrators of the charge on Tuesday. 

Crosby resides in the 4400 block of Brace Farm Drive in Suffolk.

The following message was sent via phone call to parents/guardians of Hampton High School students:

Dear Parents/Guardians of students at Hampton High School:

This is Sharmaine Grove, principal of Hampton High School. I am calling to share that a Hampton High School staff member has been placed on leave for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a student. We are cooperating with the Hampton Police Department in the investigation.

The safety of our students and staff is a top priority and we will continue to do whatever we can to ensure our schools are safe.
