There are reports out today that Sprint will announce that its proposed merger with T-Mobile is off. For months, the third and fourth largest wireless carrier had been working on a deal  that was valued at $31 billion.  Federal regulators are reportedly concerned about increased consolidation of the wireless market and Sprint felt the regulatory hurdles would be too high.

Big news from the NFL.  For the first time ever, it's going to allow electronic devices to be used during games. In fact, the NFL is partnering with Microsoft to help teams study their opponents. Players and coaches will now have access to Surface tablets that are loaded with the newly-created "sideline view system."   It's not just football players who may want to get their hands on a Microsoft Surface tablet. The company is offering teachers and college students a $150 discount on any Surface pro three model. That offer runs through September 3rd.

McDonald's restaurants in South Florida are testing a 60-second guarantee on drive-thru orders during lunch.  Customers are going to be given a timer after they've paid and if their food isn't ready in one minute or less, they'll receive a free lunch item on a future visit.
