There' s big news today when it comes to cable providers.  Comcast says it will purchase Time Warner Cable.  The $45 billion deal combines the country's two largest cable companies and creates the largest cable provider with more than 33 million subscribers.  The deal doesn't face any ownership cap restrictions, but it is sure to go through tough review from the Federal Communications Commission.  Some critics fear that this could mean higher rates for consumers.

Home Depot says it will hire more than 80,000 seasonal workers this Spring. and the company is looking to fill 525 positions in the Hampton Road area. The home improvement chain, which has more than 2,200 stores, typically adds more employees in the Spring.  But this year, the outlook has been buoyed by the recovering housing market which has seen new home construction products rise more than 18 percent last year.

Dr Pepper is testing versions of its sodas using only natural sweeteners.  The natural version has only 60 calories per can.  In case you're wondering, that's half the calories of the regular soda.
