JAMES CITY COUNTY -- Emergency workers closed off Busch Gardens Sunday afternoon due to a bomb threat, but is now reopened.
James City County Assistant Fire Chief Bob Ryalls told 13News Now someone found a note around 3:30 p.m. indicating that there was a bomb either in the England section of the theme park or in the England parking lot.
In a statement from officials from Busch Gardens, they say the park was open again after 10 minutes, but "out of an abundance of caution, the England village remained closed. Guests entering or leaving the park are being escorted to an alternate park entrance."
Crews earlier were not allowing anyone arriving at Busch Gardens into the park. Guests and workers who already were inside werenot allowed to leave.
Police and people with the fire department searched for a possible explosive, but nothing suspicious was found.
We're told the park was turned back over to Busch Gardens personnel and the park has been completely reopened.
13News Now has a crew on the scene at Busch Gardens, and we will bring you more information as it becomes available.
