VIRGINIA BEACH -- "That pain is deep and it’s daily. You never forget,” says George Lutz, whose son was killed in Iraq.
25-year-old Army Private First Class George “Tony” Lutz II was killed by enemy sniper small arms fire on December 29, 2005.

George Lutz has started an effort to get an official flag to honor and remember America's fallen war heroes.
The Atlantic Shores Christian School graduate left behind a wife and two young children.
Through his grief, Mr. Lutz had a burning desire to help other grieving Gold Star families.
He invented the Honor and Remember flag as a national symbol of gratitude and respect. He’s using an Internet-driven petition drive to gather a million signatures. With them, he hopes to convince the Department of Defense and Congress to recognize the flag.
"There are two things that I have found that are most important to a parent of a fallen child in military services and that is, one, that that sacrifice would not have been in vain, and two, they would never be forgotten," Lutz said.
He says his son would support this effort.
"Tony's word for this would be 'sweet.' His word for everything was 'sweet.' Knowing Tony and how much he cared for those that he fought with, that he served with, I think he would be behind this 100 percent.”
The Honor and Remember flag will be formally unveiled at the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk on Monday, Memorial Day, at 3:00 p.m.
