10:19 AM EDT on Monday, October 22, 2007
Associated Press
It’s that time of year – flu vaccination season.
Many Navy families can get the shot or nasal spray vaccine (Flumist) beginning today at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and its branch clinics.
The nasal spray flu vaccine (Flumist) is recommended for healthy, non-pregnant people aged 2 years to 49 years.
The traditional flu shot is approved for use in children aged 6 months to 2 years, adults 50 years and older, pregnant women and people with chronic medical conditions.
For the first time, there’s a phone number for people to call for information about availability and clinic times. That number is 757-953-3045.
You also can get information on the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Website.
