NORFOLK --The guided-missile destroyer USS Forrest Sherman left Naval Station Norfolk for duty in the Mediterranean and Arabian Seas.

The Navy says the crew of approximately 300 officers and crewmembers will take part in maritime security operations and will be gone for seven months.

The ship returned from an underway exercise, Joint Warrior, in May.

USS Forrest Sherman was commissioned in 2006.
