CHESAPEAKE - The Movie "Memphis Belle", a restored WWII B-17 "flying fortress" bomber, took to the skies over Hampton Roads on Monday.

The famous Boeing B-17 is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the original Memphis Belle's historic last mission.

We posted information about it on the WVEC13 Facebook page.

Willow Ariana Wegmann told us "That's amazing! My grandparents helped build the B-17s"

Mike Kirsch wrote, "I heard it fly over this morning. Those pistons were purring like kittens!"

Jordan Fager added, "I saw it, was wondering what that was but that's really cool though."

The Liberty Foundation's 2013 Salute to Veterans tour.   It's at the Chesapeake Regional Airport, located 1777 West Road in Chesapeake.

The plane will be in Richmond at Hanover County Municipal Airport on September 14.
