NORFOLK -- It will be a happy homecoming Tuesday afternoon for dozens of Navy families as USS Monterey returns to Naval Station Norfolk.

The Ticonderoga Class AEGIS Cruiser spent six months in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Navy says Monterey's crew provided deterrence, promoted peace and security, preserve freedom of the sea and humanitarian/disaster response and supported the Navy's Maritime Strategy.
