CHESAPEAKE -- The battlefields, the carriers, the work on deck and down below. Servicemembers, for all the hard work you do, this rubdown is for you.
As a gift in honor of Veterans Day, workers at the Natural Elements Spa at Towne Place at Greenbrier will show up for duty on Wednesday to pamper our veterans and current servicemembers -- all free of charge. That means free haircuts, massages, and facials to those who have served -- and continue to serve -- our country.
"There was no greater gift I could think of", co-owner Audrey Brown said.
Brown is a veteran herself, "It's just knowing that people care. I would get care packages from fourth graders and they would draw pictures and send stuff. It's just knowing that you're not forgotten, knowing that people care about you."
The workers at Natural Elements Spa are not the only ones making this special for our men and women in uniform and for our veterans. Other nearby businesses at Towne Place at Greenbrier have stepped up to donate door prizes -- like free meals at Sterling's Restaurant, Jason's Deli, Moe's Southwest Grill, and free hotel stays at Hyatt Place/Chesapeake Greenbrier.
Co-owner Suzanne Garcia anticipates long lines, so various area massage schools are sending over extra ammo -- extra volunteers whose battleplan is to help all of the troops relax while they wait.
"We want people to forget what they've had to endure and escape mind, body, and soul," Garcia said.
The Natural Elements Spa is located at Towne Place at Greenbrier, 717 Eden Way North -- Suite 612 behind the shopping plaza that includes Target and Best Buy off Greenbrier Parkway.
The free spa treatment runs from 10am - 9pm.
