New commanding officer for USS New York

NORFOLK -- USS New York has a new commanding officer.

Cmdr. William Herrman relieved Cmdr. Curt Jones in the 10:00 a.m. ceremony aboard the amphibious transport dock at BAE Systems Shipyard.

Jones, the first Captain of the New York, is headed to Washington, D.C.

USS New York. built with steel from the World Trade Center,  was commissioned in November 2009.
