PORTSMOUTH-- A 72-year-old man who believes he fell, hit his head and was unconscious for seven hours was rescued by the Coast Guard Wednesday approximately 70 miles east of Kitty Hawk, N.C.

Trevor Wilson of Great Britain was rescued after he requested a medevac from his 24-foot sailboat.

An air crew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. located the sailboat Erma.

Coast Guard officials say the aircrew deployed a rescue swimmer who took Wilson off his sailboat and took him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
