WASHINGTON (AP) – The Virginia congressional delegation is asking the Air Force for a briefing on the future basing for the F-22 Raptor fleet.

Sens. Jim Webb and Mark Warner joined Reps. Glenn Nye, Bobby Scott and Rob Wittman in a letter to the Secretary of the Air Force and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

The delegation touted Langley Air Force Base in Hampton for its excess operational capacity to support increased numbers of the F-22. The lawmakers also noted that nearly 400 military jobs in the area will soon be lost because of the retirement of an assigned F-15 squadron.
