HANOVER--An equipment issue forced the crew of Virginia Army National Guard helicopter to make a precautionary landing north of Richmond.

The UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, 91st Troop Command landed safely in a field.

The three crewmembers were on a routine training flight and weren't hurt, Guard spokesman Cotton Puryear told WVEC.com.

"Our helicopter crews receive extensive training on the procedures to take if an equipment issue occurs, and the crew took the appropriate actions for the situation," he said.

Repairs are being made so the helicopter can return to Sandston.
