VIRGINIA BEACH - The crew of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry is back home with loved ones tonight.
Families waited anxiously at the pier at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story.
The crew had been gone five months on maritime security duty in the Eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and Black Seas.
Elements from Riverine Squadron 3-2, Assault Craft Unit 2, Beach Master Unit 2 and CTF 65 Staff accompanied the ship.
The ship returned with a new commanding officer. Cmdr. Eric Kellum took charge in mid-November while the Navy investigates allegations of misconduct by Cmdr. Ray Hartman.
