120820-N-YF306-467 GULF OF ADEN (Aug. 20, 2012) Members of the visit, board, search and seizure team aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) board the Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier M/V Belde in response to a medical-related distress call issued by the vessel. After initial assessment by Churchill’s medical personnel, an SH-60B Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 42, Det. 8, medically evacuated an injured crew member to a hospital in Oman. Winston S. Churchill is assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 150, conducting counter-terrorism and maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Red Sea and Indian Ocean.
