NORFOLK -- A Norfolk-based ship is helping in the search and rescue effort of a downed Ethiopian Airlines jet.
Guided missile destroyer USS Ramage and her crew of more than 200 left Naval Station Norfolk on January 5 for routine deployment in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf.
They're now involved in the effort to find survivors of Ethopian Airlines Flight ET409, which crashed shortly after take-off from Beirut Airport. The plane was headed to Ethiopia.
