NORFOLK--  Only mission essential personnel need to report to Hampton Roads installations Monday, Oct. 29, officials say.

Installations outside the Hampton Roads area will execute mission essential personnel plans at the installation commander's discretion.

"We work closely with local cities and municipalities when making this decision. At this time, it is prudent to go to mission essential personnel only and it is consistent with what our surrounding communities are doing." said Rear Admiral Tim Alexander, Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic. "The safety and security of our personnel and their families is paramount. It is the right thing to do."

Military personnel, their families, and federal employees should contact their respective commands for specific manning information.

Naval Medical Center Portsmouth also says only mission-essential personnel should report for duty on Monday.

Branch Health Clinics will be closed if the base they are attached to is closed. TRICARE Prime Clinics in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake will be closed on Monday.

Patients who have appointments scheduled at NMCP’s outpatient clinics should reschedule. Patients who have surgeries scheduled for tomorrow will be contacted to reschedule them. Patients who have additional questions may contact the Quarterdeck at 757-953-5009.

The Emergency Room will remain open, but it may not be accessible due to flooded roads nearby. Patients who have a medical emergency should go to the nearest emergency room.
