Naval Station Norfolk holds change of command ceremony

Capt. Robert E. Clark Jr. took over as Commanding Officer of Naval Station Norfolk from Capt. David A. Culler, Jr. during a change of command ceremony Friday. Culler will retire in May following 26 years of service.

NORFOLK -- Capt. Robert E. Clark Jr. took over as Commanding Officer of Naval Station Norfolk from Capt. David A. Culler, Jr. during a change of command ceremony Friday.

Clark reported to Naval Station Norfolk to serve as the Executive Officer in August 2012.  A native Virginian, Clark graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1989 and was commissioned through the Naval ROTC Unit Hampton Road Battalion.

Clark's ships include USS WISCONSIN, USS CHANCELLORSVILLE, USS SAN JACINTO, USS PHILIPPINE SEA where he served as the Executive Officer, and Commanding Officer, USS MASON.  He also served as the Operations Officer for Carrier Strike Group Two deploying with USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH Carrier Strike Group.

Shore assignments include Tactical Training Group Atlantic, Chief Staff Officer for Commander, Destroyer Squadron Twenty Six, and United States Joint Forces Command as Warfighter Improvement Division Chief.

Culler, who assumed command of the naval station in August 2012, will retire in May following 26 years of service.
