POQUOSON--Retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant John T. Millan of Poquoson, 83, passed away on Saturday, March 16, one day after U.S. Sen. Mark Warner presented his family members with a series of medals and decorations earned during military service in Korea and Vietnam.

Millan was too ill to attend the event, but family members delivered the medals to him at the hospital later that day.

Sen. Warner said he was sad to learn of Millan's passing but was gratified knowing that his family had an opportunity to deliver his medals and commendations.

“Our nation owes so much to our military men and women, our veterans and their families. All of us respect Mr. Millan’s military service in Korea and Vietnam, as well as his involvement in support of other veterans throughout his lifetime. I offer my deepest condolences to the Millan family, and on behalf of all Virginians, I again want to express our respect and appreciation for his service to our nation,” said Warner.
