NORFOLK - Two people on a tug boat were hurt Thursday morning and the Coast Guard had to get them off the ship.

The Elizabeth Anne was about three miles off the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel when the accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. The crew reported a parted chain injured two crewmembers.

A boat from Coast Guard Station Portsmouth got to the scene within 15 minutes and removed the two workers.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Linden Hannon, a crewmember aboard the RB-S from Station Portsmouth, explained, "It was a complex evolution to move the victim from the galley to the aft deck that required all of the tugboat's crew as well as the Coast Guard crew to safely execute."

The injured workers were taken to the base in Portsmouth and transferred to ambulances. One person was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and the other was treated at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth.
