FORT BLISS, TEXAS -- ABC affiliate KVIA said military officials confirmed that a helicopter crashed on post at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
The CH-47 Chinook is from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Its crew was conducting High Altitude Mountainous Environment Training when it went down in Fort Bliss' northern training area, located on the New Mexico side of the state line.
The Army said it accounted for all four crew members of them, but would not comment on their conditions.
An investigation team from the United States Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort
Rucker, Alabama is en route to Fort Bliss to investigate the incident.
In order to maintain combat readiness, other Army units, military services, and coalition nations routinely use Fort Bliss to conduct aerial and ground training because of its vast and varying training
areas and environments.
