CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) — The 2nd Marine Division is scheduled to hold a series of events over two days to celebrate its 73rd birthday.

Spokesman 1st Lt. Adam W. Flores says more than 2,600 current and former Marines who served in World War II and afterward are set to gather Thursday and Friday at Camp Lejeune.

The division's supporters are celebrating with displays and demonstrations of vehicles and equipment used by the division's reconnaissance and combat engineers.

Those attending the events are also invited to attend a memorial service, a rededication of the division's battle colors, an awards ceremony and a birthday banquet.
