Police look for attempted abduction suspect
06:24 AM EDT on Monday, October 22, 2007
The man wanted for trying to abduct an eight-year-old girl from Granby HIgh School in Norfolk last week is ready to surrender, according to 13News' partners at the Virginian Pilot.
Police say 22-year old Andrew Truelove grabbed the girl by her backpack as she was standing near one of the school's athletic fields on Thursday.
Witnesses said he left in a white Kia Sportage SUV and was waving a crowbar and screaming at the time of the attack.
If all goes as planned, Truelove will surrender to police by 8:00 p.m. Monday. His father says Truelove wants to consult an attorney before doing so.
The Pilot reports that his father released a statement from Truelove assuring police he was not trying to harm the girl or anyone but wanted to quote "deal with the bullies."
Police meantime, continue to search for Truelove. If you have any information, call 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
