A C-130 will spray for mosquitoes next week

A C-130 Hercules from Langley Air Force Base will fly and spray Dibrom concentrate between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on August 29, 30, and 31 over the Langley, Bethel Manor housing, city of Hampton and Fort Eustis in Newport News.

Officials believe the effort will kill about 90 percent of adult mosquitoes and could last up to two weeks.

Beekeepers are asked to cover or keep their bees inside. Anybody with known allergic reactions should stay indoors.

The mosquito hotline number, 764-1104, will be available 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from August 28 through 31 for up-to-date spraying information.
