Police have arrested three people in connection with a counterfeit bust in March.
"Operation Nike" consisted of searching eleven businesses in six Newport News locations for counterfeit merchandise.
Police searched B&J/Fashion Studio, Kim's Variety, Phat Fashions and U1st at Peddlars Village on 3311 Jefferson Avenue. They also searched City 2U, In Store, and Booth #21 at the Flea Market at 10171 Jefferson Avenue.
Hundreds of pieces of merchandise were seized from the stores.
Okcha Henshaw, 53, Shenita Banks, 33, and Yong Su Whitney, 55, were arrested as a result of the investigation.
Henshaw, owner of Booth #21, and Banks, owner of City 2U, were arrested Friday, July 27th. Whitney, owner of In Store, was arrested Saturday, July 18th.
All three were charged with Grand Larceny by False Pretense and Trademark Infringement. The grand larceny charges could mean up to five years in prison.
Marguerite Powell, a clothing seller at Peddlars Village for 17 years, says she feels sorry for her fellow retailers, but that they should know better.
As many as eight more arrests are pending.
