Fiery bus crash injures 4
11:57 PM EDT on Saturday, May 10, 2008
(NORFOLK) --- Four people were taken to area hospitals after a car plowed into the side of an HRT bus in Ocean View this afternoon.
The bus was crossing West Ocean View Avenue at Duffy's Lane just after two when a white Nissan struck its side.
Moments later, the car burst into flames.
A number of witnesses captured video of the wreckage on cell phones and video cameras.
Eyewitnesses tell 13News a man rushed toward the car, pulling one of the victims away from the flames.
Two people traveling in the car and two people on the bus were taken to area hospitals.
Their condition was not immediately available.
While police say speed may have been a factor, it's unclear exactly how the crash happened.
Witnesses say the crash may have been a result of an error in judgement by the driver of the car.
"It seemed like someone had made a bad turn and tried to beat the bus and they couldn't make it," said Tony Rossell.
No charges have been filed.
