NEWPORT NEWS-Two men got into a fight at an adult home in Newport News.

Police spokesman Harold Eley said 60-year-old John Smith III thought another resident took some of his things Sunday morning. Their dispute escalated and Smith placed the 63-year-old in a head lock using his legs, choking him, Eley added.

The assault was witnessed by staff and some residents at Hilton Plaza Home for Adults on N. Main Street and they worked to stop the fight as police arrived.

Smith is charged with assault and impeding blood circulation/respiration.

Eley stressed the victim didn't need medical attention.
