NEWPORT NEWS -- Police say 10 women in Newport News solicitied for prostitution in Newport News. 

After getting complaints, detectives set up a prostitution operation on February 23 between 2:00 p.m. and midnight.

They say they made contact with the women arranged to meet them and were ultimately offered sex in exchange for money, police stated. 

Police say one woman was arrested at her apartment and the others were arrested at a motel in the 700 block of J. Clyde Morris Blvd.

The prostitution charges are misdemeanors.  

WOMEN CHARGED:
Lashonda Sallaway -- charged with prostitution and possession of marijuana
Danielle Charlene O’Toole of Norfolk -- charged with prostitution and felony illegal possession of a schedule II drug
Angela Thigpen -- charged with prostitution
Patricia-Ann Rausch -- charged with prostitution
Jessica Kidd -- charged with prostitution
Shaleta Stevens -- charged with prostitution
Amanda Cox -- charged with prostitution
Maria Hawkins -- charged with prostitution
Shamerc Leonard -- charged with prostitution
Chamanda Johnson -- charged with prostitution and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
