NORFOLK-Cold winter weather is descending on many parts of the country, including Hampton Roads. While some areas are getting snow, we're expecting rain showers and just a few flakes in the mix today.
"Cold air aloft will provide the opportunity for some areas of mixed precipitation from late afternoon into the early evening. The ground is still relatively warm, so anything that falls should melt quickly," says 13News Now Meteorologist Craig Moeller.
Afternoon temperatures will fall through the lower 40s and into the upper 30s this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for snow in the Baltimore/Washington DC area until 7:00 p.m.
This flirtation with winter won't last long as temperatures for Hampton Roads will be into the 50s and 60s later in the week.
An overnight shelter for homeless adults in Virginia Beach is available through the city’s Winter Shelter Program. The program provides homeless individuals with a place to sleep each night between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. at various faith organizations throughout Virginia Beach.
