11:15 a.m. UPDATE: All repairs and paving have been completed and the lanes are open, Public Works spokesman Drew Lankford told WVEC.com.

VIRGINIA BEACH --Repair work continued Thursday on a leaking 16” water main and that's creating extra congestion at the intersection of Virginia Beach Blvd./Great Neck Rd./London Bridge Rd.

Work began around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and crews hope to finish the work by 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

To get the work done, westbound traffic on Virginia Beach Boulevard is down to two lanes. Left and right turning movements will be allowed.

Eastbound traffic on the boulevard has one left turn lane open. Through lanes and left and right turning movements will be allowed.

Southbound traffic on Great Neck Road is down to one lane and isn't affecting turn lanes.

Going north on Great Neck, no left turns can be made, but the through lanes and right turns lanes are open.

Detours are in place and police officers are helping direct traffic.

Officials expect it could take drivers 10 minutes or more to get through the intersection.

Alternate routes include First Colonial Road, Potter’s Road, International Parkway and Lynnhaven Parkway.
