BALTIMORE—WVEC-TV has won several Emmy awards.

Anchor Janet Roach and special projects producer Charlie Hatfield were awarded an Emmy for their 2012 presidential election coverage. The pair worked on the documentary, “Battleground Virginia.”

WVEC also picked up Emmys for best evening newscast and continuing coverage within 24 hours of the Virginia Beach jet crash.

Saturday night was the 55th National Capital Chesapeake Bay Emmy Awards Gala at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.


The Emmy Awards Gala honors excellence in television production in various sectors of the television industry including entertainment programming, news and documentary shows, sports programming and craft categories.
