WILLIAMSBURG -- Magruder Elementary School in Williamsburg was put on lockdown Friday morning after a misunderstanding about a volunteer inside the school.

Police received a report of a "suspcious male" inside the building.  After deputies arrived they detained the person and it was subsequently determined that the man was a volunteer worker at the school and was authorized to be at the school, officials said.

The school was checked and released from lock down at 10:45am.

“Thankfully this was a misunderstanding and that the students’ safety was never in jeopardy,” Sheriff Diggs said.
