VIRGINIA BEACH—Runners took off from the Final Kick Triathlon store to honor the Boston bombing victims and their families.
“We are still out to run. We still love this sport, and we are here to support all our fellow runners across the country and the world,” Steve Brown said.
Ryan Foster came out to support the cause; he was running in Boston during the attack. “It was just very scary. I had my whole family who came in from out of town to support me and they were all on Boylston Street all morning long.”
The runners collected donations for the Boston Red Cross.
Also Saturday, at the Oceanfront runners and walkers paused for a moment of silence to honor the victims of the attacks. It was held at 2:50 p.m., the same time the first bomb went off Monday. The memorial walk and run was 4.9 miles to reflect the finish time in the Boston Marathon when the explosions happened.
