NORFOLK (AP) -- The president of the Virginia School Boards Association is planning to visit each of the association's nine regions throughout the state.

On Wednesday, Kerri Wilson will visit three schools in Norfolk - 8:45 a.m. at P.B. Young, Sr. Elementary School, 9:30 a.m. at Lindenwood Elementary School and 10:45 a.m. at Ghent Elementary School.   Joining Wilson will be VSBA Executive Director Gina Patterson, Norfolk Public Schools Superintendent Samuel T. King and School Board member Rodney Jordan.

“In order to be a true champion for all of Virginia’s public school children, whether it is with the General Assembly, the Board of Education, or the Secretary of Education, I must gain firsthand knowledge of the variables impacting student achievement,” she said.

Wilson says the visits will help her get a better understanding of the challenges that schools and their divisions are facing and of each division's successes.
