VIRGINIA BEACH -- Celebrating its 14th year, the Rock 'n' Roll Running Festival Virginia Beach is Virginia's premier running event, attracting more than 15,000 participants to the city on Labor Day Weekend. (August 30-31)
It's the original half-marathon of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, featuring three days of music on the beach, two days of running and a spectacular oceanfront finish line festival.
Open to runners and walkers from novice to professional, more than 20 live bands and hundreds of local high school cheerleaders entertain and cheer on participants along the scenic course.
Over the history of the half-marathon, more than $12 million has been raised through the event for a variety of charities and local non-profit organizations. The event concludes with a finish line beach party and Sunday night concert headlined by Train.
