VIRGINIA BEACH -- With Hurricane Earl forecast to impact the region overnight and into Friday, Va. Beach has cancelled trash and recycling service for the day. Collections that were scheduled for Friday will be made Saturday, officials said.
Officials are asking residents to clear yard debris and loose items so drainage ditches aren't clogged if a lot of rain or overwash occurs.
The City Landfill on Jake Sears Road is expected to remain open with hours Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:0 p.m. Should conditions warrant, the city could close it.
