NORFOLK -- The Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore will host the 25th Annual Taste of Hampton Roads Tuesday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
The event, which will generate over 650,000 meals for those facing hunger in our community, is sold out and features over forty local restaurants who will present their finest dishes to an expected 1,500 guests.
“We are so thankful for the amazing support of all the local businesses and people that make this event possible,” says Marianne Smith Vargas, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the Foodbank. “The weather initially threw us a curve ball, but all of our restaurants and partners pulled together yesterday and this morning to make sure we are ready to open the doors this evening.”
A special VIP reception will feature an Iron Chef-style competition with chefs from CP Shucker’s, the Virginia Art Institute, Thirty 7 North and the Swan Terrace. The competitors are dishing up food that is produced or grown locally.
Tickets will not be available at the door.
