FLORIDA -- A former USS Cole sailor, wounded in the 2000 terror attack on the ship, died of an apparent panic attack just two days before Christmas.

Johann Gokool, 32, lost his left leg when terrorists blew a hole in the side of the Norfolk-based ship while it was docked in Yemen.

17 sailors were killed in the blast; 39 were injured.

The Petty Officer 3rd Class received a Purple Heart for his sacrifice.

He was living in Florida at the time of his death, which his family and friends believe was associated with post-traumatic stress.

Funeral services are set for Saturday in Florida.  His family plans to take his ashes to Arlington National Cemetery.

This is a sad story... BUT: people DO NOT DIE FROM PANIC ATTACKS! I can't believe they are printing this. Irresponsible journalism.

This is sad, but do people actually die from a panic attack? That doesn't sound accurate?
